3. Steelers WR Steven Sims

Steven Sims was a candidate to get cut before the draft, much less after the Steelers added two incredibly talented wide receivers throughout the course of draft weekend. Pittsburgh added Sims to their practice squad last season after he was released by Washington. He appeared in one game for the Steelers during the 2021 campaign, not earning a catch.

Looking at what the Steelers added in George Pickens and Calvin Austin, both will be prominent in the offense. Pickens will be a feature receiver, while Austin will be utilized in the slot and the return game.

Plus, when you take into consideration that Gunner Olszewski will take a roster spot as a returner, that gives the Steelers five receivers on the depth chart already. Add in the fact that there are also three other receivers who will be competing.

Anthony Miller, whom Mitch Trubisky has played with before in Chicago; Cody White, whom the Steelers seem to be high on; and Miles Boykin, the veteran Pittsburgh signed after he was released by the rival Ravens. also competing for preseason playing time and respective, there just isn’t enough room for everyone. Sims will be the odd man out.
