15 all-time greatest draft picks in Pittsburgh Steelers history
By Tommy Jaggi
9. WR Antonio Brown
Antonio Brown didn’t leave Pittsburgh on a good note and this name will probably always leave a bitter taste in the mouths of Steelers fans. However, when you consider the All-Pro player this team got with a sixth-round pick, how could he not be high on this list.
In his first season, Brown caught just 16 passes and took on return duties. By his second year, he had already passed fellow draftmate and third-round pick, Emmanuel Sanders, on the roster. By 2014, Brown already inserted his name atop the list of the best receivers in the NFL — earning 110 catches, 1,499 yards, and 8 touchdowns.
Starting from there, Brown had one of the best six-year stretches we have ever seen from a player at the wide receiver position, as his production was off the charts. In his 9 seasons with the Steelers, Brown earned 6 Pro Bowls and 4 First-Team All-Pros.
Strictly grading his performance on the field, Brown had a chance to put himself into a legendary category. Though his reputation will forever be stained, he was one of the best sixth-round picks the NFL has ever seen.
