WR Calvin Austin

Do not take this as saying George Pickens was not worth the draft selection. He could prove worth every penny they pay him when it’s all said and done.

However, as highly touted as Pickens is right now, there is a slightly annoying feeling that people may underestimate Calvin Austin. In the combine, he posted the 5th fastest 40 times at 4.32. Please keep that in mind when watching his game film. If he catches the ball in the open opposing defenses just might want to say goodbye as he takes one to the house giving defensive secondary’s 3rd-degree burns.

Now consider what Matt Canada is planning for 2022. Like it or not, we will see if Canada is an offensive genius. In the process, though, you can see Canada designing some jet sweeps designed to take full advantage of Austin’s Speed.

Also, the other thing to keep in mind is that the Steelers just have good luck with receivers from later rounds of the draft. Hines Ward and Diontae Johnson were third-round draft choices. John Stallworth was a 4th rounder. The Steelers have caught lightning in a bottle in these later rounds, and with Austin’s 4.32 speed, they may have caught lightning in a bottle again, quite literally.
