Low-end NFL comparison: Teddy Bridgewater

I know this isn’t a player comparison Steelers fans want to start seeing attached to Kenny Pickett, but it’s actually one that I used in my pre-draft scouting report. For a low-end comparison, you could do much worse.

I do believe (like most) that Pickett has the highest floor of the quarterbacks drafted in 2022. It’s also very easy to draw comparisons between Teddy Bridgewater and Pickett — particularly in terms of stature and play style. While Pickett is slightly bigger they have similar pocket mobility and are pass-first players who can extend the play.

After suffering a major injury early in his NFL career, Bridgewater bounced around the league but had some respectable seasons as a starter. His most notable came in year two in 2015 when he led his team to an 11-5 record and earned Pro Bowl honors.

When Bridgewater starts, he’s always considered among the bottom half of starting quarterbacks in the league. I fear that could be the worst-case scenario for Pickett as well. Mitch Trubisky also isn’t a bad low-end comparison.
