DT Donovan Jeter

Michigan, 6’-3”, 310 lbs.

Deter was a top defensive line reserve during his time at Michigan. He played in 37 career games with 4 starts at defensive tackle. He played in all 14 games in 2021 and had 24 tackles with 2 for a loss. He figures to be a reserve nose tackle candidate at the NFL level. He has acceptable athleticism to sub across the line. He doesn’t show much potential as a pass rusher.

In the game against Penn St. Deter showed decent athleticism. He drew some double teams and could stack and shed blockers. He ended the game with 5 tackles with 1 for a loss.

Deter tested out pretty well on his Pro Day. His 5.15 40-yard dash would’ve landed him in 8th place among defensive tackles at the Combine. His vertical jump of 31” would’ve garnered him 4th place and his broad jump of 8’8” would’ve been 8th place. His 26 reps of 225 lbs would’ve been 5th place among all Combine participants.

If Tyson Alualu returns and returns to form, Henry Mondeaux would be bumped to the practice squad. If that happens Deter would have little chance of staying on. His technique isn’t bad but he appears to have topped out his athletic potential. So, I don’t know if there is much to be developed, here. If he shows he can be a run-stuffer in preseason his chances will increase.

Chances of sticking: Deter has a below-average chance of making the practice squad.
