Steelers Green

The single most disappointing rookie from the Steelers class last season, Kendrick Green struggled from the beginning after he was penciled in to start. Undersized and possessing poor technique, Green predictably struggled early and often during the season. Worse yet, he never made any progress as the season went on.

Now, he enters an even more crowded interior offensive line room. The team added James Daniels and Mason Cole in free agency, and the expectation is for both of them to wind up starting this season. That pushes Green into a reserve role, something that is less than ideal for a former third-round pick entering his second season.

While Green will almost certainly make the final roster, anything beyond that isn’t a guarantee. He needs to take some significant steps forward if he wants to carve out a career in the NFL. He has athleticism and power, but he needs to refine his technique. While his spot on the team is likely safe, the offseason wasn’t kind to Green.
