Steelers Claypool

Another disappointing player from last season, Chase Claypool burst onto the scene as a rookie. He was a dynamic offensive weapon that was used in a variety of ways. There were high hopes for his sophomore season, as he was entering a more established starting role and had already established a good role. That never came to be, as he struggled to be consistent for most of the season.

While he will still have a role in this offense, there are some questions as to how much playing time he will actually see once the season gets underway. The team selected George Pickens in the second round, and he has a skill set that could work in the Z if Claypool falters. As well, Calvin Austin was also added, and most expect him to take on some slot duties for this offense.

Again, Claypool won’t be benched from the first play, but there is a real chance that he is on an extremely short leash heading into this season. If he begins playing like he did last season, he could quickly become the fourth target at receiver. He needs to regain some of his rookie form. If not, his tenure with the Steelers could be over sooner than later.
