Pressure comes with the title of being an NFL player, but these four Pittsburgh Steelers could be facing too much of it during the 2022 season.

It’s the beginning of a new era in Pittsburgh. Over the past few years, one of the oldest rosters in the NFL has transitioned to one of the youngest — specifically on the offensive side of the football.

With this change, many young players will be forced to step up into prominent roles. Sadly, some will be asked to do too much. Let’s hope they are up to the challenge. Here are four Steelers who will be facing too much pressure in 2022:

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett

Kenny Pickett had five total seasons at Pitt and four years as a starter to prepare for this moment. However, if he’s the guy who ultimately ends up winning the starting QB job from the gate, he’s going to have an incredibly difficult task ahead.

As a 24-year-old rookie and a first-round draft choice, much will be expected of Pickett early in his career. Being the next franchise QB after Ben Roethlisberger is a tough act to follow, and if things don’t go well early in his career, fans and analysts will be sure to let him hear about it.

We know it’s just a matter of time before Pickett overtakes Mitch Trubisky as the starting quarterback, but he will do so with an incredibly young wide receiver corps, a rushing attack that finished 30th in the NFL last year, and an offensive line that was among the worst in the league. This is a lot of pressure he will have to face early in his career.
