Steelers could sign Fuller

The Steelers made two significant investments in their receiver position during the draft, as they landed two guys that could become quality starters down the road. Both rookies will likely need some time to adjust to the NFL game though. This team is still missing a proven commodity in the slot, and a name that would make some sense there is Will Fuller.

Like Bulaga, Fuller is a talented player that has been hampered by injuries as of late. A former first-round pick for the Texans, Fuller quickly became a great deep threat due to his speed and a savvy slot option due to his route running. Injuries mounted late in his rookie deal though, and they followed him through his next season with the Dolphins. Assuming he is healthy though, he could play in the slot right away.

While eventually, Calvin Austin should become this team’s primary slot receiver, they will need someone to hold that position down until he is ready to do so. Fuller makes a lot of sense, as he is still young enough to play a big role in the slot. His injuries make him a risk, but assuming his contract isn’t anything that big, the team could roll the dice with him as their starting slot receiver early in the season.
