The Steelers draft was strong on paper but the after-draft action cannot be ignored. There are a few guys who have legitimate shots at surviving the cut to 53 come September.

The Steelers had a good draft weekend getting players that could make an impact immediately but also getting quality depth at key positions. We won’t know exactly how well they drafted for a few years but, many will agree that the overall view of this class will hinge on the success of Kenny Pickett.

After all the rounds have been completed, the draft is far from over. The mad dash to the phones begins to sign the high-priority free agents that went undrafted over the previous three days. Pittsburgh’s class this year closed out at 10 signings. The class includes three offensive linemen, two running backs, two outside linebackers, one defensive lineman, and one cornerback.

The Steelers have had some successful undrafted signings in their history. Most notably would be Donnie Shell but also James Harrison, Ramon Foster, and Mike Hilton for more recent names.

Looking at those names, going undrafted is not an end to a career before it even begins. These players may have a disadvantage over someone the team spent draft capital on but, quality of play determines who makes the team and not draft status.

Pittsburgh may have found a few hidden gems in their 2022 UDFA class. Here are 4 undrafted players with the best chance to make the roster out of training camp.
