With training camp getting nearer for every team, here are five former Steelers that may be done in the NFL.

The entire NFL is gearing up for training camp as ninety-man rosters are being firmly set. While still available as free agents, these five former Steelers seem like longshots to land on a team. While their careers may be wrapping up, I wanted to highlight these former Pittsburgh starters as they try to land with a new team this offseason. That all said, here are five former Steelers that may be done in the NFL.

Former Steelers James

The name on this list that I think has the best chance to find a home for at least training camp, Jesse James was a mild surprise for the Steelers. He was the proclaimed replacement for Heath Miller, and while never an elite option, he more than held his own. He parlayed that success into a moderate deal with the Lions.

He only made it two years there before being cut. James lingered as a free agent for a good length last year before catching on with the Bears. He actually saw some decent playing time, yet he still finds himself unsigned. With camp drawing nearer, James is likely hoping for an injury somewhere in order for him to latch on.

For a team that needs a well-rounded backup, James could fit the bill. He is still young enough that he shouldn’t be broken down. While he isn’t a dynamic threat as either a blocker or a receiver, he can still be a valuable contributor. Until he lands somewhere though, it seems like it could be the end of the line for James.
