The Steelers have a lot of players that will need to prove themselves in 2022 to get another contract.

The 2022 Steelers have little expectations as we get ready for training camp to commence in the coming month. The roster is littered with new faces that will play pivotal roles for this club and they need to show up for this team to have success. Despite there being turnover and new additions, there will be returning starters to this roster as well.

All of these players enter the upcoming campaign on expiring deals with Pittsburgh. They have not earned the next contract with the franchise for one reason or another. They will need to prove themselves to the team before they are rewarded with a nice contract.

Each player on this list is at different stages in their careers. Some are star players, long time starters, or others that are still trying to break through. It is not entirely out of the possibility that they could be re-signed with the black and gold as the club is in a healthy cap situation heading into the next offseason.

Terrell Edmunds needs to continue his level of play for the Steelers

Terrell Edmunds could have left the team during this past free agency cycle, but his market was not great. He decided to come back to the Steelers after getting other offers that were not too appealing. He returns to the club that drafted him and helped him become one of the better strong safeties in the game.

Minkah Fitzpatrick helped make this player elevate his game to what it is now. Edmunds will not cause a ton of turnovers, but he is technically sound and barely makes mistakes. He will need to have a big year for this franchise to feel comfortable giving him a new contract.
