Chris Wormley needs to become an all-around player for the Steelers

Chris Wormley was just seen as a decent depth piece for the defensive line heading into last season. That quickly changed as Stephon Tuitt would be out for the season and Tyson Alualu would get injured early into the year. That injury caused him to be out for the remainder of the season.

That pushed Wormley into a starting spot that would give him the best statistical year of his career. He made the most out of his opportunity for the most part, despite struggling in some areas of his game. The biggest issue that this player posed last season was the inability to play an all-around game.

He struggled to play well against the run and that aided one of the worst Steelers defenses to play against the run in franchise history. He was not able to apply much of his game in a positive aspect last season. That needs to change for the club to feel more comfortable bringing him back after 2022 concludes.

Pittsburgh seems like they will want to bring this player back. He is still young and can provide a nice role-playing option in the pass rushing department. Top that with some other defensive lineman, like Alualu, potentially leaving the club after this year and Wormley could become a priority if he plays well enough.
