Devin Bush needs to show the potential he was hyped to have in the draft

This might be the biggest factor on this list for the Steelers defense in 2022. No matter how good he plays, or how poorly, it will be tough for many to feel comfortable giving him a long-term contract. Devin Bush has not been able to stay healthy or produce at a level that makes him worthy of being a former top ten pick as of now.

It is now year four of this player’s career and he has not been able to live up to his draft billing. You need to be careful about deciding someone’s draft stock and sadly the Steelers overvalued this player. The trade-up to draft him was widely regarded in a positive light when the actual transaction happened.

Fast forward three years later and many see it as a complete failure of a move. He started off well during his rookie season, but it was a good starting point for his career. He seemed like he was in store for a big year two and could build off his rookie season, but it was cut short by a knee injury.

Year three was something that disappointed everyone involved. Bush worked hard to get back from his injury and into the starting lineup for the Steelers again. That did not seem to work out well last year, but this season is going to be huge for him with both his future contract and the rest of his NFL career moving forward.
