2. Steelers QB Kenny Pickett

From everything we have seen from him during his time with the Pitt Panthers, it’s very hard to dislike Kenny Pickett, the person. However, there is a great divide when it comes to the perception of his football ability and upside.

In fact, from my observations and interactions with both writers and fans, the views on Pickett seem to be split pretty evenly down the middle. There is a large crowd of Pittsburgh faithfuls who believe that Pickett was the best quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft and is the right man for the job. This group was ecstatic when the Steelers pulled the trigger on him.

On the other hand, there’s a sizable group that didn’t want Pickett as the franchise quarterback and simply doesn’t love the total package as a prospect. This group didn’t want the Steelers to settle at the quarterback position and fears that Pickett won’t be good enough to get the job done in an AFC crowded with excellent quarterbacks.

Pickett could unify fans with some excellent play early in his NFL career. However, if he proves to ride the line of being a quality starter, not necessarily a franchise quarterback, he could continue to cause controversy among Steelers fans.
