The Steelers need some reliable options at tackle
As of now, Pittsburgh is struggling at the tackle position for the 2022 campaign. The two starters are currently set with Dan Moore Jr. at the left spot and Chuks Okorafor at the right tackle position. They both have had hiccups while starting for this club but were steady contributors for the most part last season.
The main issue that the depth chart has across the entire offensive line is the people behind the starting tackles. There is little to no depth behind Moore and Okorafor. There are a lot more quality depth pieces for the interior of the offensive line with young players that have starting experience.
That could create a giant issue if one gets hurt as Joe Haeg would be the player slotted into the starting lineup. Having him as your only backup is a major issue for the Steelers and that poses an opportunity. Eric Fisher signing here seems to be a perfect fit for both parties.
He should be a cheap signing on a one-year deal that allows him a great chance in front of him. He could push for a starting job or become the swing tackle for this offensive line. Becoming a role player and potentially getting a start here or there if a player is out due to injury.
The Steelers should really consider signing Eric Fisher before the start of training camp. Everything lines up with the need for both the player and the team for this addition to become reality.
