Steelers should sign Pierre-Paul
While the starters at edge rusher are two of the stronger players on the team, the depth behind them is lackluster. Despite some minimal adds, the Steelers will be decimated if either of their starters has to miss a considerable amount of playing time. While the team added a veteran last season and it didn’t work out, that shouldn’t prevent them from trying again.
Unfortunately, the edge rushers currently on the market are drying up. The best name left is Jason Pierre-Paul. The former Giant and Buccaneer has enjoyed a long and successful career to this point, but age seemed to be catching up with him last season. He played the lowest percentage of snaps ever and only registered 2.5 sacks.
Bringing him in as a third option would be a strong get for the Steelers. Despite a year of regression last season, he is only one year removed from a pro bowl season. Assuming he would be accepting of a more reserved role (given his age, he should), this would be a smart signing. He can provide both of the starters with a capable rotational defender to take the pressure off of them.
