4 bargain free agents Steelers should still add before training camp

On the other side of the field, the slot position is also very much in question. The team has quite a few intriguing cornerback options, but a veteran would make a lot of sense to bring this group together. As well, finding a more defined slot defender would help this defense with its versatility heading into a season where they are going to be counted on.
Desmond Trufant, like Sanu, is a player past his prime. That said, he still has the ability to hold his own in coverage if on the field. He was a good part-time player last year with the Raiders, and he could hold a similar role with the Steelers defense this season. While their outside cornerback room is set, adding him makes the slot position more defined.
While Trufant could kick inside, he could also allow for Cameron Sutton to move back to more of a full-time slot role. While Sutton was ok on the outside last season, his best play has come from the inside. Trufant could essentially become the third outside cornerback and Sutton could shift to a more permanent role inside. For a minimum deal, the team could do much worse.
