Steelers No. 2 WR Chase Claypool

The man that should be the Steeler’s number one receiver should establish himself as such this year, if not, then he should walk when he become a free agent. I’ll admit, I previously wrote about why the Steelers should trade him this offseason. However, I think I might have been too harsh, I still think he will take his game up a notch and play to his potential. The Steelers would be wise to keep him on the team and wait for him to flourish.

Claypool has incredible size and speed on his side. I think fans and the team have been waiting to take a step up mentally and mature into a top receiver for the Steelers. As Claypool nears the end of his rookie deal the desire for a big contract through free agency or a contract extension in Pittsburgh should provide ample motivation for necessary improvements to his game.

Being a players coach, Mike Tomlin should know what buttons to push to get Claypool more productive during the remainder of his time with the team.
