Steelers No. 1 WR Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson has been both solid and shaky as he has solidified himself as the lead receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Solid in the fact that he is quick and knows how to get himself open for the quarterback. Shaky, in the sense that he made some egregious and frustrating drops over the past couple of seasons.

Despite the drops, which many fans exaggerate, Johnson is the best receiver the Steelers have on their roster. He is a reliable and available target for the quarterback on a consistent basis. His speed is a big factor in his game and his route running skills are exceptional.

Diontae Johnson enriches this Steelers offense. He poses a bigger threat this upcoming season with the addition of talented and capable offensive weapons the team grabbed in this year’s draft. The additional talent on the offense should lift the burden off his shoulders. With this new and young receiving corp, his targets may decrease but his splash plays should increase.
