The Pittsburgh Steelers host the New York Jets on Sunday. Here are the odds and our predictions for this Week 4 AFC matchup.

It has been a rocky start for Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers, to say the least. After Teryl Austin’s defense pulled through to upset the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, the Steelers have lost two straight games against AFC teams — their most recent loss coming against a divisional rival in the Cleveland Browns.

Pittsburgh hopes for much better results as they host the New York Jets in Week 4. Tomlin’s team can ill-afford to fall to 1-3 on the season — especially considering the brutal four-game stretch coming up prior to the bye week.

Likewise, the Jets are off to a 1-2 start on the season in a packed division. They will need a win to keep their heads above water, but which team will advance to .500 and which will drop to 1-3 on the season?

Steelers vs Jets Odds Week 4

The Pittsburgh Steelers open Week 4 as 3.5-point home favorites against the New York Jets, according to Fanduel Sportsbook. Pittsburgh has a moneyline of -180 and the point total for this game is set at 40.5. The spread is much closer than fans would have hoped for at this point in the season — which is a testament to how poor Matt Canada’s offense has been so far.

Steelers vs Jets Prediction Week 4

Had this game been on the road his week for the Steelers, this could have essentially been a pick’em. However, Mike Tomlin’s team does get a bit of an advantage in this home contest against a young team that has struggled early in the season.

The Jets have managed to rack up 370 yards in some shootouts early in the season — good for 9th in the NFL, according to Team Rankings. However, New York has somehow managed to score fewer points per game than the Steelers so far (17.3 to 18.0). Quarterback Joe Flacco has been filling in for Zach Wilson. It sounds like Wilson could make his first appearance of the 2022 season, but he will have an uphill battle against a quality defense as he looks to shake the rust off.

Tomlin knows what’s at stake here, and it’s hard to envision him dropping to 0-2 at home this year against a team like the Jets. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh has been mostly involved in low-scoring affairs. We like the Steelers moneyline this week and under 40.5 points in this contest.
