Steelers vs Bills Prediction and Odds for Week 5
By Tommy Jaggi
The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel north to Buffalo to face the Bills in Week 5. Here are the betting odds and our predictions for the game.
After a remarkably sluggish start to the season by the offense, Pittsburgh Steelers fans wanted to see some real change occur. They got that in Week 4 against the Jets. Coming out of the tunnel in the second half, it was rookie QB Kenny Pickett who led the charge, and he will do so moving forward.
Pickett was a bit up and down in his first performance, and now he will have his hands full with a difficult slate of games before the Week 9 bye — starting with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills this Sunday. As you can imagine, this is a game that does not favor Mike Tomlin’s team.
While the Steelers could see a spark they didn’t previously possess on offense, this game could go south for Pittsburgh quickly if they aren’t prepared to face one of the best teams in the league. Here are the betting odds and our prediction for Steelers vs Bills in Week 5:
Steelers vs Bills Odds Week 5
Even with the energy Kenny Pickett seemed to provide in the second half last week against the Jets, oddsmakers aren’t buying that this game is going to come down to the wire. The Pittsburgh Steelers opened the week as 14-point road underdogs against the Buffalo Bills, according to Fanduel Sportsbook. Tomlin’s team has an eye-popping moneyline of +610 and the over/under is set at 47.5 points.
Steelers vs Bills Prediction Week 5
Believe it or not, this is the most a team has ever been favored in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and there’s good reason to believe that Buffalo could run away with this one. Bills coach, Sean McDermott, is 8-3 all-time against rookie quarterbacks, via Pro Football Reference. In those games, these quarterbacks have combined to throw for just 7 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in those games.
Pickett will be under duress against a top-tier pass rush led by Von Miller. Even with Buffalo’s disadvantages, we like the Steelers to cover the 14-point spread this week, and against a talented offense, we are taking the over on the point total for the first time this season. We predict the Steelers will ultimately lose 31-20.
