The Pittsburgh Steelers look to salvage their season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Here are the odds and our prediction for this Week 6 matchup.

Every Pittsburgh Steelers fan in the nation has to have a sour taste in their mouth after the team’s previous performance. Mike Tomlin’s squad was utterly humiliated on the road against the Buffalo Bills in what proved to be a blowout disaster. Buffalo cruised to victory with a 38-3 win despite the Bills resting Josh Allen and several other starters in the fourth quarter.

A 1-4 start to the season was not at all what Tomlin had planned, and he knows how much is riding on his team’s performance in Week 6. Unfortunately, they get another brutal matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Tom Brady has been lethal going up against rookie quarterbacks.

Unsurprisingly, Pittsburgh will once again be underdogs in Week 6 despite this game being played on their own turf at Acrisure Stadium. Here are the odds for Steelers vs Buccaneers this Sunday as well as our game prediction in this must-win contest for Pittsburgh.

Steelers vs Buccaneers Odds Week 6

The Pittsburgh Steelers open the week as 8.5-point underdogs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Fanduel Sportsbook. This is one of the biggest home-margin deficits they have seen in franchise history, but after recently losing by 35 points — the most since Week 1 of 1989 — it’s not hard to see why oddsmakers set such a big spread this week. Tomlin’s team has a moneyline of +315 and the point total for this contest is currently set at 43.5.

Steelers vs Buccaneers Prediction Week 6

After doing all but serving the Bills a victory on a silver platter last week, it’s remarkably difficult to be optimistic about Pittsburgh’s chances in this contest. The Buccaneers have losses against the Packers and Chiefs this year but allowed just 3 points to the Dallas Cowboys in a Week 1 win. Tampa Bay has allowed an opponent to score over 15 points just once this season.

As bad as the Steelers need this victory to stay afloat, it’s hard to envision a Tom Brady-led team with a great defense falling against a grossly inferior opponent this week. Against Buffalo, rookie QB Kenny Pickett and WR George Pickens showed signs of life and offered a glimmer of hope for the future, but even if they both take another step forward, it probably won’t be enough to threaten the outcome of this game.

Considering their current injuries and most recent sample of play, we believe that the Steelers not only lose this game but also fail to cover the 8.5-point spread. We are taking Tampa against the spread and over 43.5 points this week in a game we are predicting the Buccaneers to win 28-17.
