The Steelers had a lot of news during their early portion of the week heading into their seventh round of competition.

Pittsburgh is focused on the Miami Dolphins as they get ready for their matchup this Sunday night. It is going to be a big test for the Steelers as they head on the road in a hot and uncomfortable environment. During the early portions of this week, there were a lot of news headlines that each fan should know about. The team has struggled so far in 2022, but they have a lot of football to play ahead of them.

The black and gold are in the middle of their toughest four game stretch of their schedule currently. They just beat Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in a wild upset at home after being dismantled by the Buffalo Bills a week prior. They still have the Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles up next before they can try to find some footing during the bye week. It will be a tough road ahead for this team, especially with different situations that have arisen for them.

Trubisky had a heated conversation before being benched

Many of the local and national outlets have already caught onto this story about Mitch Trubisky and Diontae Johnson having a shouting match during halftime a couple of weeks ago during the game against the New York Jets.

Allegedly Johnson began shouting at Trubisky because he was not seeing the ball go his way. That led to an argument before Trubisky was benched after halftime. Mike Tomlin never confirmed or denied that these events ever transpired during his recent press conference.

Kenny Pickett is still the number one guy for the Steelers

Rookie quarterbacks need confidence to succeed in the NFL and things should get better for Kenny Pickett. He suffered concussion-like symptoms during last week’s performance and missed a significant chunk of the game. He is currently practicing and could be able to play against the Dolphins on Sunday if everything goes right. Tomlin had another depth chart released this week, which kept Pickett as the top quarterback. The coach also verbally backed the rookie as the starter during his press conference.

Pittsburgh could have some trades in the mix before the deadline

Other rumors started to swirl as the NFL trade deadline continues to creep closer. Chase Claypool has found himself in trade rumors again, but if he keeps playing as he did against Tampa Bay, those rumors will dissipate.

Mason Rudolph has also been said to be available for the right price if a team wanted to call and gauge interest. A trade does not seem to be in the works right now, but the Steelers should keep their options open.

The injury list could be getting a lot smaller before game day

Searching the injury list is something that many keep a close eye on as certain players missing time with injury could alter the outcomes of games. Many starters could have a real opportunity to return from injury this week like Ahkello Witherspoon, Cam Sutton, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and potentially others. Getting some, if not most, of these players back into the starting lineup would be a tremendous boost to this club.
