Steelers vs Falcons Best Bets for Week 13
By Tommy Jaggi
The Pittsburgh Steelers face the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 13. Here are the best bets you can make for Sunday’s game.
Because of their current state, the Pittsburgh Steelers season could essentially be over on any given week. At 4-7, a single loss could doom their playoff hopes this year. Mike Tomlin will try to advance his team to a record of 3-1 since the bye week if he can pull off a win on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
The Falcons have lost three of their last four games with their only win coming against the Chicago Bears. This is a very winnable game — even for a team that has struggled as badly as the Steelers. If you feel like placing a few wagers on this Week 13 contest, here are the best bets you can make for Steelers vs Falcons on Sunday:
Best Steelers Bets Week 13
Cordarrelle Patterson Anytime TD Scorer (+115)
Cordarrelle Paterson is on a bit of a touchdown drought, but he did miss a good bit of time this season with injuries. He was, however, able to score 5 touchdowns over the first 5 games he played in this year, according to ESPN stats.
Patterson is averaging 5.2 yards per carry, and the Steelers are notorious for allowing running backs to score against their linebackers in coverage. Meanwhile, Patterson is coming off a game in which he recorded 11 carries and earned 5 targets in the passing game. He’s not a workhorse back, but at +115 odds via Fanduel Sportsbook, we like him as any anytime touchdown scorer in this matchup.
Point Total OVER 42.5 (-106)
For most of the year, we took the under on Pittsburgh’s point totals. Prior to the bye week, they averaged just 14.1 offensive points per game. However, their recent surge has forced us to change our thinking a bit here. Over the past two weeks, the Steelers and their opponents have flown by the betting point totals as they combined for 67 points in Week 11 and 41 in Week 12.
We would have thought that their game against the Colts would have been a slugfest that proved to be a low-scoring affair, but that wasn’t the case. This week, the Falcons have a suspect defense, and we would expect these teams to combine for over 42.5 points.
Steelers To Cover The Spread (-105)
Interestingly, the payout to take the Steelers at the spread or the moneyline is almost exactly the same. While we do believe that the Steelers win this game, you might as well give yourself an extra point of cushion by taking Pittsburgh to cover the 1.5-point spread.
Neither of these two teams has been great, but the Steelers are playing their best football of the season most recently. We like the spread or the moneyline this week — both with very similar odds.
