The Pittsburgh Steelers made a few minor roster moves in preparation for their Week 14 contest against the Baltimore Ravens. Here’s what it means.
In Week 13, the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to stack back-to-back wins for the first time since the end of the 2021 season. Now they will look to make it three in a row with a big win over a potentially Lamar Jackson-less Baltimore Ravens team.
With their team nursing back to full health, Pittsburgh made a few roster moves on Wednesday morning. The Steelers signed linebacker, Emeke Egbule.
Egbule was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Daft. However, he failed to catch on as anything more than a special teams player in his three seasons in LA. Egbule has just 13 combined career tackles in 32 games. This signing means that he is likely to be brought up to the active roster in the event of an injury at the linebacker position.
To make room for Egbule on the practice squad, the Pittsburgh Steelers released running back Master Teague. The former Ohio State product displayed his physicality and athleticism during training camp and the preseason for the Steelers, but his shot may have to come somewhere else.
With Jaylen Warren’s return to the active roster last week after suffering a hamstring injury, RB Anthony McFarland was expectedly demoted back to the practice squad — leaving no room for Teague.
Steelers roster is looking healthy
After losing their best player to IR early in the season, it’s nice to see the Pittsburgh Steelers make a near return to full health. Miraculously, Pittsburgh has been able to make it this far without any major injuries on the offensive side of the ball. As a result of their offensive line staying together all year, this unit has really stepped up their play since the bye week.
Defensively, Mike Tomlin admitted that T.J. Watt is still pretty banged up with a rib injury. This clearly affected his play in Week 13 against the Atlanta Falcons. However, the hope is that he can return to full strength soon and return to the dominant player we all know and love.
