The Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Eve. Here are the odds and our predictions for his Week 16 matchup. 

When TV networks bid on this game, they probably didn’t realize that the Steelers and Raiders would both be sitting on 6-8 records with three weeks remaining and little hope of making the playoffs. Still, this contest holds a particular level of significance.

On December 23rd, 1972, The Immaculate Reception was born. Franco Harris made one of the most spectacular plays in the history of the league. This will be the 50th anniversary of that reception, and what better time for these two teams to battle it out on Christmas Eve?

The Pittsburgh Steelers open the week as 2.5-point favorites over the Las Vegas Raiders at home, according to Fanduel Sportsbook. They have a moneyline of -152 and the over/under for this game is currently set at 39.5 points. The loser of this Christmas Eve showdown will officially be eliminated from playoff contention.

Steelers vs Raiders Prediction Week 16

While they are still far from perfect, the Pittsburgh Steelers are 4-2 since the bye week and are fresh off a road win against the Carolina Panthers. Kenny Pickett was out of commission with his second concussion this past weekend, but we expect him to return to the field for this primetime event with all eyes watching.

Historically, Pittsburgh has not fared well in this matchup — particularly in recent years. Since becoming head coach of the Steelers, Tomlin is just 2-5 against the Raiders. Neither team is going to lie down in this contest, but Pittsburgh doesn’t match up particularly well against this team. Still, there’s something to be said about how they typically play in primetime.

Though we expect this to be a close game, we like the Raiders moneyline at +128 in this contest. We have Pittsburgh losing on Christmas Eve with a final score of 19-17.
