Steelers need to ask Santa for a top inside linebacker

Trench warfare is not going well for the black and gold’s defense, and it has become a repeat problem over the past two seasons. You can blame the defensive line all you want but these inside linebackers are not able to get off blocks to make plays when necessary. The current group of players on the roster are not working out and it seems like the Steelers might not have an answer in sight.

Some magic from Santa could turn that around by bringing in a great player for this team. They need a true number one guy in the middle of this defense, which they have been missing since Ryan Shazier lost his career from injury. The turnstile of employment at the starting inside linebacker spot has been embarrassing for this club that prides itself on defense.

Devin Bush gets constant hate on almost every platform that you could imagine. He has started to pick up his play this season, but nothing that warrants a hefty contract extension or future with the team. Myles Jack has been ok at different points, but he has also had massive road bumps to overcome.

Drafting a starter seems like it would be the best decision for the organization. The free agency class looks very thin and there are no starters that are sure fire things on the open market. Depending on how the first round shakes out, Trent Simpson or Noah Sewell could make sense for the black and gold when their pick rolls around.
