Steelers Candidate #2: T.J Watt

Definition: Defensive Anchor

Consistency is important when considering a noteworthy candidate. A valuable player is defined by his ability to change multiple games throughout the season. A peck injury sidelined Pittsburgh’s All-Pro edge rusher for a large chunk of the season. His return was an ingredient in the franchise’s success. When Watt returned, the Steelers improved – opening the door to playoff consideration.

An impact such as Watt’s deserves recognition, even if he missed a few games. His skill set improved Pittsburgh’s run defense and increased the pressure quarterbacks felt inside the pocket. All of these factors are unnoticed, but make No.90 an essential part of the Steelers’ future.

Minkah Fitzpatrick played more games than his teammate this year, which could have impacted the voting. Each player compliments the other – creating force on the gridiron. Missing out on the team accolade may give Pittsburgh’s quarterback hunter more incentive to return next year. He’s a dominant player and will only improve.
