The Steelers ended their 2022 season in a blaze of glory. They beat their division rival Browns 28-14 but missed the playoffs thanks to a Jets loss.

Despite not going to the playoffs, Mike Tomlin is now tied with George Halas in 3rd place with 16 consecutive non-losing seasons, and in spite of that, Tomlin has taken his lumps this season for various reasons. While another winning season helps, his criticisms may yet continue into the 2023 season. However,  he did a marvelous job of turning the 2-6 club around since their bye week to bring them a hairs width from the playoffs and preserve his NFL-winning streak. The key will be to see how much better the Steelers perform next year.

George Pickens officially lead the Steelers wide receivers with four touchdown receptions. He’s the first rookie wide receiver to lead Pittsburgh wide receivers in touchdowns since Diontae Johnson led all team wide receivers in touchdowns in 2019. With his touchdown against Cleveland, he also led all offensive payers in touchdown receptions.

Pickens also finished the season with 801 receiving yards, the 6th highest total amongst rookies in franchise history. He just missed surpassing Santonio Holmes on the list by 23 yards.

However, the Steelers finished with only 12 overall passing touchdowns in the passing game. That is their least number of touchdown passes since the 2000 season, their second lowest passing touchdown total since 1974, and only the second time since the NFL expanded to 16 games they have passed for 12 or fewer touchdowns.
