Unusual stats from the Steelers-Browns matchup

As it’s been said before, anything can happen when the Steelers play the Browns. Well, it’s not a cliché. You might not have realized it from the score, or that there were not any unusually long plays, or that any one player had a spectacular afternoon. However, the game did have its own personal historical note within the history between both franchises.

Kenny Pickett only had 13 pass completions in the game, yet they managed 28 total points. This performance is notable in the series’ history because it was the most points the Steelers scored against the Browns with only 13 completions since their meeting in 1954 when Pittsburgh routed Cleveland 55-27.

The game also had two interesting side notes. The first is that Cleveland’s 14 points is their 3rd lowest point total when the Steelers only tossed 13 completions in a game against Cleveland. In conjunction, the Steelers had a 60% third down conversion percentage. It is their highest percentage against Cleveland since 2011 when the Steelers had a 61.5% conversion rate.

One last notable stat from the game is that it is the first game against Cleveland in which Pittsburgh had at least 10 rushing first downs and 10 passing first downs.
