Grading the Steelers turbulent offense for the 2022 season
Steelers quarterback grade: C+
Mitch Trubisky started the season at quarterback and things did not play out nicely. The mix of him and Matt Canada only magnified many different issues that created a lethargic offense on the field. Other than the game against Carolina and Tampa Bay, Trubisky did not produce much when he was throwing passes for this offense.
Kenny Pickett was a brighter spot, but he showed that there is still a learning curve for him before he can be counted on at a high level. He was able to play well in big moments down the stretch that helped the Steelers get to a winning season. Pickett had a decent rookie year that showed Pittsburgh should feel comfortable moving forward with him.
Steelers running back grade: B
Something was off with Najee Harris at the beginning of the season. It seemed like he was still dealing with a lingering injury from training camp and that gave Jaylen Warren an increased role. Warren produced at a high level, which is even more impressive since he was an undrafted rookie coming into this year.
Harris would rebound around the mid-point of the schedule where he showed his health came back to earth. He was able to bulldoze over opposing players and create runs that looked like an encore performance of his rookie season. Both Harris and Warren showed some great abilities and could be a great tandem for the years ahead.
