Pittsburgh fans aren’t pleased with the news they received. The latest Steelers news has fans frustrated over Matt Canada’s return while other teams make more proactive moves.

Since the end of the 2022 regular season, Pittsburgh Steelers fans were hoping for some major personnel changes within the organization to help get this team back on top. Nobody has been a bigger topic for this team than offensive coordinator, Matt Canada.

Unfortunately, fans didn’t get their wish. The team recently announced that Canada will be coming back for the 2023 season. All the while, many other teams are taking preemptive measures to make sure their offense improves. Here’s the latest Steelers news you need to know.

Steelers news

Though it’s been two days now since the Pittsburgh Steelers officially announced that Matt Canada will be returning to the team, fans aren’t letting it go. The offensive coordinator became a trending topic on Twitter as fans lashed out against this decision.

Most pointed to the fact that Canada’s offense averaged a dismal 18.1 points per game this past season, while others are adamant that his offensive game plan won’t be good enough to compete with the elite offenses and quarterbacks in the AFC. These arguments seem to be justified. Regardless, Canada is coming back in 2023 and a vast majority of the fan base is not pleased.

In other Steelers news, Pittsburgh has officially avoided playing in an international game in 2023. On January 19th, the NFL announced the team that will be playing overseas. These include the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, and New England Patriots.

This is good news for many fans, as they won’t have to worry about watching the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Sunday morning game. Perhaps most importantly for the team is that Mike Tomlin’s crew won’t have to worry about traveling to another country only to come back and play another game the following week. It’s the little things in life like this.

NFL news

One of the biggest reasons fans continue to be upset over the Matt Canada news is that they are hearing about offensive coordinators being fired all around them. On January 19th, Ravens OC Greg Roman resigned as the team’s OC. This comes after Baltimore fell to the Bengals in the first round of the playoffs.

The Ravens now join the Patriots, Cardinals, Buccaneers, Titans, Commanders, Jets, Broncos, Texans, and Colts in a long list of teams that have officially parted ways with their offensive play-callers from the 2022 season. When you look at it this way, it truly is remarkable that Matt Canada remains.
