2. Steelers could target OT Dawand Jones

From a physical standpoint, Dawand Jones is one of the single-most impressive prospects we’ve ever seen enter the NFL Draft. Jones became a trending topic after his insane weigh-in. The Ohio State product measured in at over 6’8” and a whopping 375 pounds. That’s not even the impressive part. Jones has remarkable 36 5/8” arms to pair with a miraculous 89 1/2” wingspan — the longest on record when compared to either the Senior Bowl or the NFL Combine.

You simply do not see players in this mold very often. The ones we have seen in recent years still don’t compare, but other mammoth offensive tackles have found tremendous success in the NFL in recent years. Eagles OT Jordan Mailata, for example, came into the NFL at 6’8” and 345 pounds. Despite some quickness limitations at his size, he has been tremendous for Philadelphia at left tackle.

Orlando Brown Jr. is another example. He also came into the league at 6’8” and 345 pounds but tested as a horrendous athlete. It didn’t seem to matter, as he has been a very good left tackle for the Ravens and now the Chiefs. Dawand Jones may be a right tackle in the NFL, but that doesn’t mean he’s not valuable.

The Steelers could stand to upgrade both tackle positions, and Jones will be a more physically imposing offensive lineman than anyone they’ve had in a very long time. After some strong Senior Bowl practices, he will be one of the fastest risers in the 2023 NFL Draft, but the Pittsburgh Steelers could be one of the teams most interested in acquiring his services.
