3. Steelers should target Ohio State OT Dawand Jones

Dawand Jones was quite the spectacle at the Senior Bowl this year. At 6’8” and 375 pounds, Jones toward above all other players and was impossible to ignore. His most impressive trait however is his remarkable 36 5/8” arms and freakish 89 1/2” wingspan — the longest ever measured in the history of the Senior Bowl.

If this number holds true at the NFL Combine, it will also be the longest on record for any NFL player. Obviously, Jones is going to have some athletic limitations at his size, but he’s nearly impossible to bull rush when he anchors properly and his other-worldly reach gives him a big advantage against speed rushers as well.

Jones certainly doesn’t fit the size profile that the Steelers have been going for over the past several years. They have been targeting the athletic offensive lineman who can get out in space and reach block. That’s not Jones, but perhaps they would make an exception for a player with 100th-percentile size traits.

It’s also worth noting that Jones graded out as one of the best run-blockers in all of college football, and this should easily translate to the NFL stage. His extremely rare body type alone should help him have a very long NFL career.
