The Steelers should entertain the thought of trading back in the draft and they did in this rendition of their latest mock draft.

At this juncture, the Steelers have a ton of needs and a lot of work to do for this roster to become a contender. There are many different talents in the 2023 NFL Draft that could change the tide for the black and gold to get better in the upcoming season. Expect Pittsburgh to be open to the idea of trading back in the first round if certain scenarios play out.

TRADE: Steelers receive picks 25, 57, 128, and 2024 4th rounder. Giants receive picks 17 and 2024 6th rounder

The old wait-and-see approach has not failed this organization when you look at their draft track record. They wait for pick 17 to come along and get a generous trade offer from the Giants to move back eight selections on night one of the draft. Adding an extra second and fourth round pick this year and a fourth rounder in 2024 was too hard to pass on.

Steelers mock draft round 1: OG O’Cyrus Torrence

Perhaps this would be the ultimate scenario on night one as the Steelers are able to get a treasure trove of picks by trading back and still get great talent. With pick 25 in round one, Pittsburgh takes O’Cyrus Torrence out of Florida to fix their left guard spot. Kevin Dotson has not gotten better since being drafted, so finding a replacement might be high on the to-do list.

Tackle is another need that Pittsburgh needs to address at some point, but Dan Moore Jr. could still have some room for improvement. Torrence has a lot of things that the Steelers organization loves in their first-round prospects. It is beyond overdue for this team to invest in the trenches heavily.
