With little news surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers' attempt to re-sign pending free agent Isaac Seumalo, it could lead to the two parties parting ways. Losing him would immediately create a major void at left guard, a spot Seumalo has held since signing with the Steelers in 2023 free agency. Since he joined the team, he has become a steady contributor in the trenches.
Age defeats all, and while Seumalo has remained a solid starting guard in Pittsburgh, his injuries have begun to pile up. He has missed seven games over the past two seasons. He should command a decent contract in free agency, but the chances of his next deal being with the Steelers seem low.
They could find some bargain free agents to consider bringing in to challenge for the vacancy left behind by Seumalo.
Pittsburgh Steelers could get cheap replacement for OG Isaac Seumalo in free agency
Brady Christensen, Carolina Panthers
Unless the Steelers make a splash signing in free agency, don't be shocked if they double-dip at the need. They could sign a starting-caliber offensive lineman and also draft a high-upside prospect to compete for Seumalo’s former role. Brady Christensen would be a perfect option. He suffered a season-ending torn Achilles tendon in Week 8 of this past campaign.
Signing this free agent option would bring some uncertainty along with it.
While Christensen has played all across the offensive line during his NFL career, he has only started 11 games over the past three seasons. You would be signing him as a veteran capable of competing for the starting job on the left side, with the flexibility to shift into a backup role if needed. That versatility would provide Pittsburgh with much-needed flexibility.

James Daniels, Miami Dolphins
Don't dust off your Steelers James Daniels jerseys just yet, as his reunion with the team remains unlikely. With that said, it isn't out of the question. It has been a tough couple of years for Daniels, who suffered back-to-back season-ending injuries. He lost a season due to a torn Achilles tendon during his last year in Pittsburgh, and his first season in Miami saw him tear his pectoral muscle.
He was with the Steelers from 2022 to 2024. He joined the Dolphins last offseason after signing a massive three-year contract. Miami cut him only one year into that deal, and many worry about his ability to stay healthy. The Steelers should consider bringing Daniels back if there is interest from the free agent. He would be an affordable option who can provide quality play if he stays healthy.
Teven Jenkins, Cleveland Browns
Tevin Jenkins is a younger option for the Black and Gold to consider in free agency. If Seumalo departs the team, they could use some nastiness up front. While he must develop further as a pass protector, Jenkins is already a dependable run blocker. After a troublesome start to his career as a left tackle for the Chicago Bears, he has rebounded as a guard in the NFL.
He was in a reserve role on a Browns offensive line unit that was full of talent in the middle.
Jenkins has the draft pedigree and youth that the Steelers normally target in free agency. He has played tackle and both guard spots during his time in the NFL. Though highly talented, the former second-round selection hasn’t put it all together yet. Jenkins could be a buy-low option with a bounty of upside.
