After setting their 53-man roster, the Pittsburgh Steelers appear focused on getting ready for Week 1 of the regular season. Although adding to the team right now doesn't seem to be a high priority, they could always target a free agent or two this season. Maybe someone won't be added in the coming weeks, but the Steelers could always dip into free agency if their club has deficiencies that come to light.
Hitting the panic button could lead to some desperate moves by the team.
There are several notable free agents available, and the Steelers could show interest this year. The continued question marks around the offensive line, linebacker position, and the lack of competition among the specialists could become a rising problem. Any sort of struggle in those areas for Pittsburgh, especially at the beginning of the campaign, could lead to roster changes.

James Daniels, OG
They know him well from his days with the Steelers from 2022 to 2024. The veteran offensive lineman is someone the club should feel comfortable with if some of their question marks in the interior of the trenches become a problem. Spencer Anderson is the starting right guard, and Daniels could take his spot if they add him in free agency. As long as the free agent is healthy, he could be a solid option.
Elandon Roberts, LB
Making Elandon Roberts part of final roster cuts is a move that could age poorly for the Steelers.
He was their most impactful player during his short return to Pittsburgh. He should remain on their radar if he doesn't land a job before that. Roberts is someone who can bring an edge to the defense, and they need that. They would be wise to go out and sign this free agent today, but it doesn't appear that they will anytime soon. This divorce could be one that bites the Steelers in the end.
Taylor Decker, OT
Without Dylan Cook showing he belongs as a starting right tackle, and Troy Fautanu struggling on the left side, Pittsburgh should consider alternatives. If everything fails during the first couple of weeks, the Steelers should move Fautanu back over to right tackle and sign Taylor Decker as a free agent. He is a veteran player who has a ton of starting experience and could slide into that role immediately.
It might not be the ideal scenario for the offensive line, but if they falter, this could be a quick fix.
Johnny Hekker, P
No one really cares about special teams until it all goes awry. Cameron Johnston did perform pretty well during the preseason, but he must keep that momentum going as the season starts. The Steelers have been plagued with questionable play at the punter position in recent years. Johnny Hekker is a legendary punter who could help save the day if Johnston starts to decline.
