It's time to show their worth or the pressure could continue to build.

Following their Week 1 performance, there are several players in the starting lineup of the Pittsburgh Steelers who are in trouble. They didn't have a good overall game the first time around, which could mean a depth chart demotion or a roster cut for a few names if that trend continues.

Week 2 of the schedule represents another shot for those players who struggled in the first battle to rebound against the New England Patriots.

Looking back at the matchup against the Falcons, most of the issues for the Steelers stemmed from the offensive side of the ball. The team will need to correct those errors and produce an even better defensive effort against a better foe in New England. It will be interesting to see how certain players respond to their adversity. If they don't figure things out, it could create a growing story.

Pittsburgh Steelers who are facing mounting pressure going into Week 2 of the season

Dylan Cook

It's only a matter of time before Max Iheanachor takes over Dylan Cook's top spot on the depth chart. The veteran tackle didn't have a great game against the Falcons, and he cannot afford a similar outcome in Week 2 of the season. Any sort of failure to rebound against the Patriots could see him get benched sooner than expected. Cook has to be careful, or he could find himself off the roster.

Rayshawn Jenkins

He might've produced a strong preseason, but Rayshawn Jenkins must fight for his job each week. His experience is what's keeping him on the field, and although his performance against the Falcons wasn't poor, the secondary will be tested against the Patriots. Jenkins must play at an adequate level for a veteran of his stature. Anything short of that could see him lose his standing in the organization.

Spencer Anderson

After failing to see legit competition this summer, many hoped Spencer Anderson would emerge as a solid starter at right guard. Unfortunately, he and the rest of the offensive line didn't produce a strong outing in the season opener.

Anderson won't be in roster trouble if he continues to struggle, but Brock Hoffman and Gennings Dunker are backups who could take his starting job if he doesn't improve.

Asante Samuel Jr.

It's not his fault for being on this list, but if Joey Porter Jr. returns to the field, expect Asante Samuel Jr. to see his role decrease on defense. He has done a terrific job of filling in while Porter has been away negotiating his failed contract extension and dealing with a back injury. Samuel shouldn't be discouraged by the eventual depth chart lowering as he's proved he can be a quality player for Pittsburgh this year.

DK Metcalf

Not enough people are talking about how out of whack DK Metcalf appeared to be against Atlanta.

He needs a big-time game against New England in Week 2, or things could get contentious with their highest-paid receiver. The Steelers offense is counting on him being their top target, but his drops last week were a concern. Metcalf better have an improved effort, or the fans will start to turn against him.
