It wasn't pretty, but the Pittsburgh Steelers found a way to win their Week 3 matchup against a tough divisional foe in the Cincinnati Bengals. Their offense finally came alive, and some players were given bigger roles during the game. It saw some of those on the roster rise the depth chart and play a significant part in the outcome of the battle. With the success of the offense, expect many of those alterations to remain in place this week.
One of the tougher results to come to terms with was the issues on defense.
Yes, the Bengals have a terrific offense, but it would've been nice to see some points being kept off the board in certain scenarios. With all that being said, the defense stepped up to cap off the victory in the final moments. That group could be in need of a shakeup on the depth chart to provide a spark in specific areas.
Pittsburgh Steelers should give these players an increased role after Week 3 of the season
Jaylen Warren
He's a starter, but Jaylen Warren showed he deserves most of the snaps at his position. The Steelers have been too focused on running a tandem between him and Rico Dowdle that they've seemingly forgotten Warren is a premier weapon on offense. Expect the slippery back to get the majority of snaps moving forward.
Max Iheanachor
They finally pulled the trigger and elevated Max Iheanachor up to the top of the depth chart. The first-round pick lived up to the hype and played a terrific game. Unless something seriously wrong occurs, no one should anticipate Dylan Cook hitting the field anytime soon. The right side of the offensive line appeared to go from a weakness to a strength during this AFC North bare-knuckle brawl.
Daylen Everette
He didn't make a ton of plays against the Bengals, but Daylen Everette continues to impress during his minimal playing time.
It was reported that Jalen Ramsey was walking around in a sling, which means the team might need a new slot cornerback. Expect Everette to battle for that role with some others going forward. It's a crowded roster, but Everette's talent and position flexibility are hard to ignore.
Brock Hoffman
Much like Iheanachor, Brock Hoffman made an immediate impact after being upgraded on the depth chart. He was relegated to a depth role early in the season, but the Steelers finally made a change going into the game against Cincinnati. It was great to see Iheanachor and Hoffman show what a solid starting right side of the offensive line looks like. They were both strong and should keep their spots.
Darnell Washington
You can argue about the wide receivers showing struggles early in the season all you want, but the tight ends have been sensational. Darnell Washington appears to make plays no matter how little he touches the ball. When he gets a target, he makes the opposing defense pay with his size mismatch. Washington continues to prove he needs to become more of a focal point of their offensive attack.
