The Pittsburgh Steelers had the opportunity to have a get-right game this week. Despite the Packers posing a big threat, Pittsburgh historically has done well after losing in Thursday night games.
To put it simply, the Steelers had the opportunity to prove that they are a legit threat. Instead, they continued to unravel.
It looked like a good showing early for this team. The defense was doing just enough to hold off the Packers' offense. While it was field goal-centric, this team was maintaining a lead. That all blew up after halftime, though.
This game got away from them, and once the pressure was on to stay competitive on offense, the team couldn’t. In short, it was a disaster across the board.
The Pittsburgh Steelers only found losers in this loss to the Packers
Steelers Winner: No one
Let me start by just summing up the winners with a goose egg. Were there some ok performances? Sure, Jaylen Warren sticks out as a steady presence who is deserving of praise. Roman Wilson finally had his breakout game. But it wasn’t enough to vault either into the winner group.
No one stuck out in a positive light. This team was manhandled from top to bottom.
Steelers loser: The Superstars
It was a quiet night from all of the big names. Even though D.K. Metcalf had an ok stat line, he had a boneheaded penalty that cost this offense late.

Green Bay saw its stars rise to the occasion. The Steelers shrank into their shell. It was a bad showing from the players who you count on the most.
Steelers loser: Defensive coaching
Once again, the defense deserves a lot of scrutiny. Despite paying this secondary handsomely this offseason, Darius Slay looks washed, and Jalen Ramsey has proven to be best when used in the slot.
Sure, you stopped the run, but it made this defense one-dimensional once again. The Packers exploited this by cutting this defense apart. We aren’t in Matt Canada territory yet, but this unit is significantly underperforming.
Steelers loser: Scoring offense
One of the strengths of the offense so far this year, the starters couldn’t find their way into the end zone on numerous occasions. Drives stalled, and the team relied on the leg of Chris Boswell. Had they covered one or two of those field goals into touchdowns, this game would have suddenly a different story.
Steelers loser: Mike Tomlin
The biggest loser this week, you needed to see the Steelers give more bite in this game. Despite the first half being pretty timid, you had a healthy lead after halftime. Instead of opening things up, this team got conservative and watched as this game got out of hand.
This team had some monumental questions to answer this week, and it seems like we got the worst version of those answers. Mike Tomlin isn’t doing enough to right this ship.
