The Pittsburgh Steelers have an amazing opportunity approaching Thursday evening. A win against the Cleveland Browns will give Mike McCarthy’s squad a consecutive divisional win. It also provides crucial leverage in the race for the AFC North title. Victory is achievable, but nothing is guaranteed.
Why? Because fans haven't seen offensive consistency in quite a while. The Cleveland Browns will do their best to protect Huntington Bank Field. Luckily, Aaron Rodgers is determined to keep the wheels turning.
“We have one decent performance so we’re going to try and stack a few” Rodgers said via the team's website.
That sounds like a perfect plan to me.
Pittsburgh’s offensive struggles at the start of the campaign were worrisome. McCarthy’s innovations led to limited production and unmet expectations. Before Week 3, the Steelers managed just 499 total yards in two games. But an offensive explosion against Cincinnati revitalized hope.
Rodgers threw his season high in passing yards (292) and touchdowns (3). He also earned his highest passer rating (101.6) on his fewest attempts (34) this season. The Steelers also finished with 138 rushing yards, averaging 6.0 yards per carry.
Something clicked. Just take a look at the final scoreboard. Pittsburgh’s 30-point performance marked the first time the Steelers reached that threshold since November 16th, 2025.
Aaron Rodgers’ hunger for consistency could led the Pittsburgh Steelers to consecutive AFC North win
The sight was amazing to see. And the veteran quarterback knows transition is par for the course.
”You start from zero for sure, but there’s some vibes that start to flow a little bit if you put together a few good performances in a row,” Rodgers admitted.
It’s good to hear Pittsburgh’s leader is focused on repeating success. Especially knowing he will be facing a struggling Browns defense. According to ESPN, Cleveland has allowed six passing touchdowns in three games. Opposing quarterbacks also average 239.3 passing yards against their secondary.
That should be music to Rodgers’ ears. A growing connection with Roman Wilson and Darnell Washington will help the veteran move the chains. Both allow Pittsburgh to stretch the field via yards after the catch and separation on routes. Those skills will be crucial against Mike Rutenberg’s defensive scheme.
According to Sumer Sports, Cleveland leads the league in man coverage usage, which could also help DK Metcalf find footing in McCarthy’s system.
He enters Week 4 tied among the NFL Leaders with three drops according to PFF.
A successful Thursday night is not far-fetched for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The offense is coming off a hot performance while Patrick Graham’s unit continues to impress. A focused Aaron Rodgers is the key to stacking victories. And he’s focused on impacting the outcome of the divisional showdown.
