On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers joined The Pat McAfee Show, where he revealed what football fans feared: the 2025 NFL season will be his last. Rodgers talked about why he's got nothing left to prove, but he's excited for one final shot with the Steelers.
Before fans could even think about what Rodgers' life will be like after football, the 41-year-old quarterback gave us his answer. But little did we know that he was about to vow to disappear from the public eye altogether.
"I don't want the attention. I know that's a narrative out there. When this is all done, you won't see me," Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show. "I won't be in the public. I don't want to live a public life. That's why it's so strange, what's going on right now with my private life, because I don't want to live a life in the public eye. I'm not going to be in the public eye. When this is done, I'm done, and you won't see me."
Rodgers went on to explain that, while he's in it, he's going to 'empty the tank' and give it everything he's got. Those are the words every Steelers fan wanted to hear.
But if you were hoping Rodgers would be involved with the team after retirement, he just assured us that won't be the case.
Aaron Rodgers vows to live a private life after the 2025 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers
From an emotional standpoint, Aaron Rodgers's career has been a rollercoaster. At times, the future Hall of Fame quarterback has been adored by fans; at other times, he's been criticized. Now he's got us feeling emotions we haven't felt before.
You can take it to the bank that Rodgers isn't going to be Peyton Manning or Tom Brady after football. He's not going to be appearing on talk shows or landing a broadcasting gig. He wants nothing to do with the spotlight.
After being hounded by the media for the past two decades, who can blame him?
Though Rodgers didn't elaborate on his future plans, we can assume they will have nothing to do with football. Not once did he mention the possibility of coaching or working with a team after retirement. This means you can kiss any chance of being around the Steelers' facility after the 2025 season goodbye.
Quite frankly, Rodgers intends to disappear after this one final NFL season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. And if all goes well, let's hope he disappears into the sunset after bringing postseason success back to this franchise.
