It looks like his surprise meeting may not be happening after all.

The Aaron Rodgers waiting game continues, as there still appears to be little to no clarity on whether Rodgers will return for another season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Throughout the offseason, the timeline surrounding Rodgers has constantly shifted. Early on, Steelers GM Omar Khan suggested this situation would not drag out nearly as long as it did last year, leading many to believe a decision would come early in free agency. Then, according to Art Rooney II, the expectation became that a decision would be made around the week of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Fast forward to this past week, and reports indicated a decision could come any day now. However, based on recent comments from Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that may no longer be the case either.

At some point, the Steelers need to draw a line in the sand and stick to it. The constant waiting and uncertainty have gone on long enough, especially after the latest developments.

Despite Aaron Rodgers being in Pittsburgh for the past few days, no meetings with the Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly taken place

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rodgers has been in Pittsburgh this week, yet the Steelers still have not met with him directly and instead have only remained in contact with his agent. Even with rookie minicamp taking place, Rodgers reportedly has not been at the facility at all.

At some point, this saga needs to end one way or another. Yes, Rodgers is a future Hall of Famer and realistically does not need to be present until training camp to be ready for the season. However, it is completely fair for the organization to want clarity at the most important position in sports before heading into a new season.

The Steelers also deserve blame for allowing this process to drag out on Rodgers’ timeline. They bent the knee early in the offseason, and now the situation has reached a point where the organization needs to set a firm deadline and stick to it. If no decision is made by then, you move forward with the options already in the building, whether that means Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, or Drew Allar competing for the QB1 role.

What makes this even more frustrating is that Rodgers is already in Pittsburgh and still has not shown up to the facility, while communication continues to go through his agent. This entire situation could have been avoided if the Steelers had simply stuck to their stance instead of catering to a quarterback who was only here for one season. Once again, it is another confusing and drawn-out process that makes you question how this front office operates at times.

At this point, the organization, the locker room, and the fanbase all have every right to be frustrated because this has gone on long enough
