The Pittsburgh Steelers won a competitive matchup against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, and the game had an absolutely bizarre ending. However, the wildest moment of the game came during the second quarter, when DK Metcalf had a brief altercation with a Lions fan. The CBS broadcast replayed the moment the veteran receiver pushed a fan in he crowd.
Another fan in the crowd shared a different angle of the incident, and in the new footage, Metcalf is seen walking directly up to the fan, snatching them up, then saying something to them before pushing them away and walking off. The receiver wasn’t penalized during the game, because the referees didn’t see the incident, but it’s safe to say the NFL will have something to say about Metcalf’s actions.

DK Metcalf has heated exchange with Lions fan
Metcalf left the Steelers locker room before speaking with reporters, so no one knows his side of the story. The Detroit Free Press did speak with the fan, though, and the fan argued, “My words don’t matter because it was on camera.” However, the fan, who made it a point to refer to Metcalf by his full name, DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf, did say he called the veteran wideout by his full name before Metcalf came over and grabbed him. Of course, it remains unclear if that’s all that was said, and if that’s the reason Metcalf got physical with the fan.
Again, the veteran receiver remained in the game, because the referees didn’t see what happened, and he had a roller coaster of a game with four receptions for 42 yards. With the NFL already investigating the situation, it seems like a safe bet that Metcalf will miss the Steelers’ Week 17 game against the Cleveland Browns. Pittsburgh will surely hope his punishment doesn’t affect his availability for what could be a pivotal Week 18 matchup and against the Baltimore Ravens.
With the Steelers now sitting at 9-6, and Baltimore entering it’s Sunday Night Football matchup against the New England Patriots at 7-7, the regular-season finale could end up being a de facto AFC North championship. If that happens, the Steelers will want to be at their best, which includes having DK Metcalf on the field.
