The Pittsburgh Steelers lost yet another playoff game under Mike Tomlin. At this point, fans have grown accustomed to watching this play out every year, but that certainly doesn't make it any easier.
For most of the game, the Steelers were very much in it, trailing 7-6, and the defense was playing hard. Unfortunately, everything unraveled in the fourth quarter, and it just kept getting worse and worse. Ben Roethlisberger experienced this firsthand during his appearance on the ManningCast on ESPN2.
After Rodgers was sacked and then fumbled the ball, which led to a Texans scoop and score, Roethlisberger couldn't hide his frustration while talking to the Manning brothers.
"No, he was down," Roethlisberger said initially. "There's nothing better than big boy touchdowns but I don't want that to be a big boy touchdown... No way... Oh the big guy never went to the ground... Look how wide [Rodgers] was... Oh my goodness."
From there, Big Ben just looked physically ill and, in his defense, a lot of Steelers fans had the exact same attitude and reaction. That scoop and score by Houston made it a double-digit lead for the Texans, and, as we know, the Steelers never recovered. It was just plain ugly, and Roethlisberger couldn't believe what he was witnessing.
Ben Roethlisberger looked beyond annoyed during Steelers playoff loss
It's hard to blame Roethlisberger for his reaction there, as it fit exactly how this fan base felt watching not just this game but the past seven playoff losses. The Steelers scored a whopping six points, yet they were in the game until that scoop and score. That's when it was obvious that it was over and that the Mike Tomlin era needs to officially come to an end.
This was a tough loss for Pittsburgh, but hopefully, the silver lining is that changes will be made. We don't want to see Big Ben reacting like this to a Steelers play ever again because that was just downright depressing.
