NFL fans can unite in agreement that we are tired of the drama surrounding free agent Aaron Rodgers. The Pittsburgh Steelers want to sign him, but the free agent hasn't decided yet. He is taking his time, and it sounds like it could last a while. Distractions surround the toxic personality, and Steelers Nation can't handle much more.

It appears that Rodgers enjoys the attention that surrounds him. There have been conflicting reports about his potential contract, but he has two offers from Pittsburgh and the New York Giants sitting at the table waiting for him. Other rumors claim he wants to join the Minnesota Vikings, but Minnesota might roll with J.J. McCarthy as their quarterback.

Omar Khan was brilliant in adding Mason Rudolph to fix the immediate need for the position. If Rodgers decides to go elsewhere, the Steelers could complete their first losing season under head coach Mike Tomlin. Right now, Rodgers holds all the cards, and the Giants and Steelers continue to sit in limbo until he decides.

Most believe the Steelers remain the favorites to sign the free-agent quarterback, but this situation will drag on.

Pittsburgh Steelers fans shouldn't expect free agent Aaron Rodgers to make a decision anytime soon

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network believes this situation might not end until April. More specifically, the Steelers might not get the final word on Rodgers's decision until around the NFL Draft, April 24 through April 26. That is still over a month away, and both fanbases of the Giants and Steelers are tired of waiting for him to choose.

"I don't get a sense he is in a hurry at all. I really don't. He sort of controls this thing," Rapoport said on NFL Network. "There is no sort of deadline. Could [Rodgers's decision] go all the way to the draft like it did two years ago? It could."

It would be eventful to see Khan and Tomlin hold onto hope that Rodgers would choose them in free agency right around the draft like Rapoport mentioned. It would be awkward to see the legendary quarterback go elsewhere. If they head into the draft without scouting any top signal callers, they could finish with only Rudolph as their lone starting option.

Pittsburgh must remain on the offensive as they await Rodgers's decision. Failing to keep a couple of backup plans in their back pocket could cause issues. There is no guarantee the 41-year-old veteran will sign with any club, despite top reporters claiming they believe the Steelers continue to be the favorite to add Rodgers. Khan has an opportunity to prove himself as an adequate general manager.

It's not a strong crop of rookie quarterbacks, but the Steelers must keep an eye on the draft class. They shouldn't draft one high, but they could take one in the middle rounds if Rodgers refuses to decide before the draft. There will be other options in free agency left. Pittsburgh is in no rush, but unfortunately, neither is Rodgers.

Make sure you take most reports surrounding Rodgers with a grain of salt. Until you hear straight from the quarterback, it's hard to pinpoint what he wants for this upcoming season. The Steelers are desperate to sign the last upgrade at the quarterback position left in free agency. Pittsburgh wants to compete again for another season before they turn toward the 2026 draft.
