Failure to get George Pickens his targets will lead to nothing but distractions. That is exactly what the Pittsburgh Steelers knew about the star wide receiver when they traded him to the Dallas Cowboys two years ago. Although it's been an overall fruitful relationship between Pickens and the Cowboys, this season has started to get ugly. Pickens is starting to lash out, and Dallas isn't winning games.

Moving on from Pickens was never about his talent level. He can be a true superstar for any offense in the NFL. The issue has always been his in-game antics and maturity concerns since the Steelers drafted him. At some point, his talent won't allow NFL teams to look past those red flags.

The recent video of him rushing towards the locker room just seconds after the Cowboys lost was a bad look for the playmaker.

Perhaps his locker room rush is looking too far into things, as Pickens has been dealing with a shoulder injury. That being said, it's hard to give him the benefit of the doubt after all the issues he had with the Steelers, which are now rearing their ugly head with the Cowboys. One thing is for sure: the temperature in Dallas is heating up, and Pickens might start boiling over if things don't change.

George Picken in-season episodes continue to show why Pittsburgh Steelers traded him

This recent issue was not the first problem George Pickens has had since leaving the Steelers. During his time in Dallas, he has produced costly penalties, sideline fits of rage, and battles with his quarterback, Dak Prescott. Those are only the on-field circumstances that were obvious to the public. You'd hate to speculate, but the chances of these issues happening before games are high.

Pittsburgh worked hard to keep Pickens on a schedule during his time with the Steelers, but even Mike Tomlin wasn't a match for him. There are countless reports of him arriving late to game days and even having attendance issues at practice.

Tomlin was one of the most respected coaches in football, and no shade to Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer, but if Pickens wasn't listening to Tomlin, then these issues have probably gotten worse with the Cowboys.

It hasn't been a terrible individual season for Pickens up to this point in the calendar. He's produced 533 yards and two touchdowns. Those are solid numbers, and he could continue to inflate those if he doesn't continue to get in his own way.

The Steelers could use a superstar receiver like Pickens on their team this season, but with the number of concerns he brings to the locker room, it makes sense that they moved on.

At the end of the day, his distractions became too much for the Steelers to warrant keeping him around for his on-field production. Dallas is struggling right now, and if Pickens isn't a key cog in their offensive attack, these problems will only compound at a quicker rate. He has all the talent in the world, but he continues to rush himself out of the league and, more importantly, away from a big contract.
