As the Pittsburgh Steelers begin what will be another offseason in which they are looking for new wide receiver help, the New York Jets might be able to drop them a godsend from the heavens above in future Hall of Fame wideout Davante Adams.

Adams, who was traded to the Jets to link back up with old friend Aaron Rodgers, is almost assuredly going to be moved in the offseason if Rodgers retires or demands to leave New York. Adams would immediately become the best available wide receiver if this happens.

While Mike Tomlin's stock as a coach is fairly low after yet another season in which he was annihilated in the postseason, that doesn't seem to have impacted Adams' thoughts on Pittsburgh much at all. To hear him say it, Adams could be overjoyed at the prospect of being coached up by Tomlin.

In an appearance on Kay Adams' "Up and Adams" show, Adams said he would "100%" be on board with playing for Tomlin. This seems to be a clear indication that Adams would be fully on board coming to Pittsburgh. Let's hope the front office sees this as well.

Adams is still one of the best wide receivers in the league. If his production with the Jets was extrapolated out a full 17-game season, Adams would have finished with 104 catches, 1,320 yards, and 11 touchdowns. Adams would be the best wide receiver the Steelers have had since Antonio Brown.

If Rodgers decides to run it back for one more year with the Jets, it stands to reason that Adams will want to be back as well. However, amid reports that standout youngster Garrett Wilson could request a trade if Rodgers returns, the Jets may choose their young talent over veterans like Adams.

As good as George Pickens has been, his unreliability and volatile play have shown that he isn't a No. 1 receiver. He can be a terrific No. 2 in the right offense, and Adams coming in to take some of the defensive attention away from him might be what the Steelers need to give their offense a system shock.

Adams is approaching his mid-30s, and going from Rodgers to Russell Wilson is likely going to be a downgrade that will hurt his production, but it is very rare that receivers of his caliber can be had via trade. Adams giving Tomlin a strong endorsement could get the wheels turning again.
