The Pittsburgh Steelers may have made a lasting impression on one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. On April 11, Shedeur Sanders—son of NFL legend Deion “Prime Time” Sanders—visited the Steelers’ facility and walked away with praise for the historic franchise.
During an appearance on Up & Adams, Sanders didn’t hold back when grading his time in Pittsburgh.
“It was a 10,” Sanders said. “I enjoyed my time in Pittsburgh. I connected well with all of their coaches.”
Shedeur, fresh off a standout senior season at Colorado, is projected as a first-round talent with the arm talent, poise, and leadership to become a franchise quarterback. In 2024, he posted 4,134 passing yards and 37 touchdowns, proving he can operate efficiently in a pass-heavy system.

Though concerns linger about his tendency to pat the football before his release—a minute mechanical hiccup that can delay throws—it didn’t prevent him from dazzling scouts at his pro day on March 13.
Shedeur Sanders is becoming the favorite for the Pittsburgh Steelers' first-round pick
Despite sitting out of the NFL Combine and early draft declarations, Sanders made headlines with his poise and polish during workouts. The Steelers, yearning for a long-term solution under center, didn’t waste time scheduling a visit.
When asked about Head Coach Mike Tomlin, Sanders offered insight into the type of culture he experienced during his visit.
“I see why they won a lot,” he said, pointing to the leadership and structure Tomlin brings. That kind of chemistry and mutual respect could go a long way if the Steelers are serious about investing in Sanders.
Holding the 21st overall pick, Pittsburgh faces a tough decision. The quarterback position is wide open, with Mason Rudolph re-signed on a two-year deal but not guaranteed the starting role. If the Steelers see Shedeur as their future quarterback, they may need to act aggressively on draft night. Waiting for him to fall could be a costly gamble.
If Omar Khan and the Steelers front office want Sanders, they may need to move up the board in an unprecedented first-round trade. Shedeur has made it clear he’s looking for a franchise to call home—and based on his glowing remarks, Pittsburgh might be the perfect fit. Now, it’s up to the Steelers to decide how badly they want him.
